Tango Argentinean Grill Brings Unique Latin Flair to Place St. Charles

Chef Christian Folch and his wife Tilsa A. Rodriguez proudly announce the grand opening of TANGO ARGENTINEAN GRILL at Place St. Charles. A rich combination of Latin, European and New Orleanian traditions, Tango's diverse cuisine is sure to delight even the most discerning palate.

A native of Buenos Aires, Folch's passion for food began at a young age. He learned the art of cooking from his mother Doña Laura. When she became immobile due to illness, Doña Laura instructed him in all of her culinary secrets from her sickbed. Folch learned time-tested cooking methods and secret ingredients that had been passed through the family for generations. Folch used this knowlegde to provide for his family during his mother's long illness. The family worried that such heavy responsibility would be too much for the young man, but the same determination to succeed and passion for food that drove him then, carries on now at Tango.

When his mother recovered, she opened a flourishing catering business, and of course, Folch was there every step of the way, cooking along side her and even managing administrative tasks behind the scenes. In the meantime, Folch began a career in the maritime industry and would move to the United States during the late 90s to explore opportunities in that industry. All the while, his love of food never left him, and more so, his dream of opening his own restaurant grew.

Now that dream has become a reality with Tango Argentinean Grill. With a core concept of offering a fusion of great flavors at affordable prices, guests will experience the melding of Argentinean, Italian and French cultures that make Folch's homeland so extraordinary. Tango's specialties include Steak, Cannelloni, Gnocchi, Milanesa, Lentil Soup, Salads, Chimichurri Sauce and Empanadas (Meat Pies). A superb Mar Salad and Seafood Paella highlight Lenten specials. Lunches start at $6.95, and take out and in-house delivery is available. Tango also offers its space for private meetings and parties for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Call 527-0071 or email tangoargentineangrill@yahoo.com for more details and reservations.
